What is Hypnotherapy Print E-mail
Wednesday, 30 August 2006
Hypnotherapy, as it is clear from the name, is a procedure for the treatment of diseases through the use of hypnosis or hypnotism. You might have heard of radiation therapy, photodynamic therapy, hormonal therapy, and psychotherapy, but not hypnotherapy. It definitely is a new term in the medical science.

Hypnotherapy is very close to psychotherapy. Hypnotism is used to induce a state of sleep or trance in the patient to make him relaxed and forget about his surroundings for a short duration of time. Then the hypnotherapist makes him aware of his choices and lets him decide subconsciously what he should be doing with his life. Hypnotherapy can also be carried out without the use of hypnosis.

Hypnotherapy is used to cure ailments and overcome problems like smoking, chronic pain or fear of certain unseen objects. Most of the time the patient is made to reflect on his past life, a time where he had a healthier ego or well-being. Therapy which involves the use of hypnosis is often used to treat emotional problems.
